The Museum Is About To Get A Whole Lot Bigger!

Construction will begin soon on the architectural restoration of the Museum's full historic landmark site -  increasing our operating space threefold to 22,000 square feet! 
Shown here in the photo is  the currently undeveloped space available in the Museum site. Construction is made possible through a competitive grant from the New York State Council for the Arts / Empire State Development Arts & Cultural Facilities Improvement Program and matched by private donations from individuals, businesses, and foundations.

This Month at the MakerSpace

Creative Arts Table: Block Printing
Kids will create their own printing blocks by cutting foam and scratching into it with a pencil and stamping their picture onto paper

Science and Tinker Table: Why Knot?
So if you get a big knot in your hair you might not be too happy, but there are times when we really need knots!  This month we will show you lots of special knots and what they are used for.  And we'll have lots of shoes and sneakers to help you learn the different ways people tie shoelaces!

First Saturday Art Workshop: Paper Marbling!
Saturday, February 2, 11am - 1pm
Try your hand at paper marbling and decorate a heart for valentines day! Kids will be creating swirling patterns with water, and paint as they try out this printmaking process All ages welcome

Our Healthy Hearts!
Young Discovers and Exploring Play, every Wednesday and Friday respectively, 11am
Let's learn about our REAL HEARTS!!!! What do they sound like? What do they do? How do we keep them strong? Programs designed by for 2-5 year olds.

Its a SLIMY Science Sunday!
Sunday, Feb 10, 11:30am and 1:30pm

Things are going to get messy when we concoct different types of slime while learning about polymer chains and viscosity, and use scientific method to explore states of matter and non-Newtonian fluids. Appropriate for ages 6+. Included with admission, space limited

Michael Albert: Cerealism and Collage Works
Special Exhibit in the Lavan Family Gallery

Westchester-based, internationally-recognized pop artist Michael Albert is synonymous with collage art. His colorful, energetic collages, made from cereal boxes & other printed cardboard packages of consumer products, are full of images and elements of our everyday consumer life which kids recognize. The Collage works feature history, literature, math and iconic imagery that will give children a lot to discover

POP UP SHOP OPEN

The Museum is partnering with Melissa & Doug Toys and Scattered Books of Chappaqua, NY, to offer a colorful, engaging selection of toys and books for infants through middle school-aged children. The shop features books curated by Scattered Books, for our youngest visitors to middle school readers. Our toy selection, offered exclusively by Melissa & Doug, features the puzzles, toys, and imagination-building playsets that the company is known for. A portion of proceeds from shop sales supports the Museum's educational programs.
